There are still over 67 million children out of school globally, 43% of whom live in Africa. Every year, 10 million children drop out of primary school in Sub Saharan Africa. These are more than just statistics or numbers. These are actual children. The same children that will grow up in a few years from now and be expected to fend for themselves and those around them. Foundation plays an important role in the construction process of any building. This importance cannot be overemphasized even in the life of any individual. It is for this reason that the childhood stage of any individual is undoubtably so significant.
We hope for a world which creates opportunities for all and where an individual’s desire to acquire education – quality education is not limited by the environment in which they are in.
While you may have a strong desire to change the world, you do not have to carry the whole world on your shoulders. You can achieve that desire even just by changing the world of one child.
While we may have the ability to dream and believe there is no limit to what we can achieve, there is a child out there whose only dream is to be able to see another day due to the multitude of uncertainties in their life. A child who is neither superior nor inferior to another but is limited by the circumstances they found themselves in. A child endowed with so much ability than they can ever be able to fathom.
Too often than not, we have allowed the ideology of light at the end of the tunnel blind us from seeing the light within us while in the tunnel. There is light even in the darkest places and even in the hardest of times, we can still shine that light and extend an helping hand to those in need.
