With climate change rewriting the realities of our communities, this need for locally grounded, inclusive solutions has never been more urgent. Through our EQUICAS (Equitable Climate Action Solutions) program, we are working to bridge the divide in access to climate action information and opportunities especially among youth, women, and marginalized groups.

One of EQUICAS pillars is our Climate Action in Action. In June, we held a highly interactive training series under this pillar led by Adah Bitiah Chembo our Project Lead and a Community Solutions Program Fellow. This training was part of Adah’s Community Action Project and brought together 15 young leaders and changemakers who were determined to bring positive change to their respective communities.

Designed as an intimate, hands-on and highly interactive learning experience, the training covered a rich range of topics including:

  • Climate change and local impacts
  • Youth leadership and climate justice
  • Sustainable living and community-led initiatives
  • Indigenous knowledge and climate action
  • Climate storytelling and advocacy
  • Green jobs and pathways to climate livelihoods

Participants engaged in intensive dialogue, storytelling, action exercises, and peer learning. The feedback we received emphasized how profoundly small, participatory spaces can provide clarity, courage, and commitment among those most affected by climate injustices.

Given the strong impact and interest generated by this first cohort, we are excited to announce that we plan to continue this training series, expanding our reach while keeping our commitment to small, deeply engaging sessions that prioritize learning, trust-building, and action.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated, shared their stories, and made this experience meaningful.

Stay with us for future training dates, and together, let us construct a more equitable and climate-resilient world one community at a time.
